Are you a 2030 company?

The business world is changing more than ever before. And it is not just about AI.It's AI, buying preferences, global macroeconomic shifts, remote work, the rise of solopreneurship, off-the-charts skepticism, and a whole lot more.By 2027, more than half the U.S. workforce will not receive a W2.Startups like Duolingo and Shopify are saying they are AI first versus hiring or using contractors.LinkedIn and new search GPTs are now how people learn and make purchasing decisions.

Historically...

If you ran a consulting, coaching, or professional service company, your goal would be to reach "escape velocity" by building a large team, having a fancy office, continuing to get bigger logos, and maybe even sell one day, find that illusive “passive income,” or have multiple revenue streams.

Here's the thing...that world is gone.

Influencers need massive audiences for “passive income“ or “portfolio careers” and make just $0.96 per follower all while algorithms are throttling free reach.

Agencies, consultants, coaches, and professional service firms that have not hit critical mass of $10M/yr are stuck in limbo land.

Below that number?

You can never afford to hire "another you."

Plus, the potential for an acquisition is almost always an acquihire situation with nominal to no multiple.

Any overhead today means paper-thin margins, an inability to move fast, or stay focused.

In the 1990s and 2000s, technological progress was measured in years and decades.

In the 2020s, it happens in days and weeks.

This isn't doom and gloom. It's reality.

Many multi-million dollar businesses are going to zero.

Many consultants will NOT make it to 2030.

Over the last two decades…

I’ve nailed almost every big shift in business, resulting in $50M of closed revenue...

In 2000, I was a digital pioneer. In 2003, I had a blog before anyone else.In 2005, I was in early on being a solopreneur. In 2007, I designed some of the first social web experiences. In 2009, I created an app-only agency focused on the iPhone. In 2012, I had employees around the world as a remote first company.

...you get the picture.

For the last five years, I’ve been pushing people to stop being remote forced and start being remote first, end relying on low-cost employees vs. a community of expert peers, killing the obsession over tools to instead create growth systems, and more generally…undoing the thinking pushed since the Industrial Revolution that bigger is better to growing without hiring.

I will NOT sugarcoat this:

We are living in equally terrifying and exciting times.

But it's not just about survival.

It's a return to the days when family is first, excellence beats mediocrity, and you don't have to ask for permission to go on vacation.

In the days of the cottage industry, people lived and worked at home, much like today.

They focused on their craft.
They were driven by passion.
They knew their why.

Put another way?

They integrated work within life.
It was never work-life balance.
Instead, it's life-work integration.

The corporate and consulting grind is the exact opposite.

— Miss a kids big event for the mandatory client travel.— Growth at all costs, including your mental and physical health.— Mad Men style pitches to get the deal even if the prospect is a jerk.— Toxic work conditions and legacy clients who shop on pricing.— Commuting for hours and hours so the boss can watch you.

Here's what everyone's missing:

The rules that built today's consulting and agency world were written for a different era. An era when information was scarce, when geography mattered, when throwing bodies at problems was the only way to scale.

But we are watching the evidence pile up every day...

Your prospects turn to social platforms and peer networks as their sources of learning and trust, not perfectly crafted, static websites or web searches.

Your clients compare you to ChatGPT and solopreneurs who move faster while also costing less than traditional overhead-heavy agency or big consulting operations.

Your competitors don’t just use tools, they are systems thinkers who work with AI, peers, and mentors as collaborators and accelerators.

The businesses that survive this transition aren't the ones with the most employees or the fanciest client logos. They're the ones that have figured out how to deliver expert-level value without the expert-level overhead.

They've cracked the code on attracting clients who pay for outcomes, not hours. Who want seasoned advice, not deliverables. Who see you as irreplaceable, not interchangeable.

They've built businesses that work whether they're at their desk or at their kid's soccer game. Whether it's Monday morning or Friday afternoon. Whether the economy is booming or there’s market uncertainty.

How do we balance a return to this simpler state within our always-on world that is increasingly powered by AI?

It's not about putting your head in the sand or creating a sort of "Digital Walden Pond."

In fact, in many ways it's about mastering new ways of thinking and new technology.

It's about realizing that the status quo is not working.
The status quo is not sustainable anymore.
The status quo is going to zero.

Growth will NO longer be about size alone.Growth will NO longer be powered by headcount.Growth will NO longer be about offices, equipment, or infrastructure.

If this hits you between the eyes...

...and you know you need to adapt to this new reality…yesterday…then I'd love to share the next part of this adventure.

You’re aligned with the vision…but the next part?

I'll show you tactically and practically what you need to do about it.

It's an adventure already unfolding.

It started nearly three years ago and has already helped hundreds of founders, consultants, and coaches make this exact transition—from occasional referrals and competing on deliverables to becoming the go-to option in their market and growing with systems, not headcount.

And we're only just getting started…
